Governance
“Seacoast Trust will allow people in the region who are working across our collective impact network to self-determine how we spend money to fund the projects that are most crucial for our future generations."
— Gah Kith Tin Alana Peterson, Executive Director of Spruce Root Inc.
Grounded in our original guardians’ values, the earnings of the Seacoast Trust support a different kind of conservation: one that recognizes healthy people and communities as inseparable from nature. Working across divides caused by more than a century of exploitation — of our lands, resources and people — we have done the hard work to identify shared goals and priorities to reconnect in service of our children and grandchildren.
The Seacoast Trust is overseen by committees and positions appointed by the Spruce Root board of directors, which also oversees the Sustainable Southeast Partnership’s present-day funding from other sources.
The Seacoast Trust is a perpetual funding source for Sustainable Southeast Partnership programs and community benefits. The Sustainable Southeast Partnership is a Spruce Root program, and Spruce Root governs the Seacoast Trust.
